KidSafeNest Terms & Conditions
Last updated: June 6, 2026
Welcome to KidSafeNest. These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the KidSafeNest mobile application. By using this app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.
1. Intended audience
KidSafeNest is designed for children under 13 and must be used under parental or guardian supervision. Parents or legal guardians are responsible for approving account creation, providing consent for personal data collection, and monitoring their child’s use of the app.
2. Account registration & parental consent
A parent or legal guardian signs in with Google, sets a Parent PIN, and may create child profiles with a first name, age group, and optional photo or avatar. We do not collect a separate parent phone number in the app.
By creating a profile, the parent confirms they are the legal guardian and consent to collection and use as described in the Privacy Policy. Parents may remove child profiles or delete the full parent account in the app at any time.
3. Use of the app
You agree to use KidSafeNest only for lawful purposes. You agree not to misuse, copy, or distribute app content without permission, reverse engineer the app, upload inappropriate content, or use the app for unauthorized commercial purposes.
4. Content ownership
Public domain stories and poems remain in the public domain. Original app content is owned by KidSafeNest. YouTube videos displayed through the app belong to their respective creators. KidSafeNest does not claim ownership of YouTube content.
5. YouTube integration & safe content
KidSafeNest uses the official YouTube Embedded Player API. Video playback is subject to YouTube Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. KidSafeNest is not responsible for video removal, regional restrictions, or content availability changes.
KidSafeNest does not provide unrestricted web browsing. Children may watch only YouTube videos a parent approves for their profile. When parents add videos, the app applies kid-safety filters (including SafeSearch strict, Made for Kids eligibility, embeddability, duration limits, and content checks). Parents remain responsible for reviewing approved content and supervising viewing.
Built-in story source links, when offered, are limited to trusted Project Gutenberg URLs.
6. Parental responsibility
Parents are responsible for supervising app usage, monitoring screen time, managing profile photos, reviewing YouTube content, configuring optional Android device app lock and allowed apps, and granting and reviewing Android permissions used for app blocking.
7. Device app lock & allowed apps (Android)
Device app lock is an optional parent-controlled feature. It is off by default. Parents choose which installed Android apps a child may open for each child profile. KidSafeNest is always included in the allowed list.
Parents enable this feature in the app under Settings → Allowed Apps and complete Device Lock Setup on a real Android device. When enabled, the app may request Usage access, Display over other apps, a foreground service, notifications, battery optimization exemption, and optionally the default Home app role or device administrator for uninstall protection.
Allowed app package names and device-lock settings may be stored locally and synced to the signed-in parent account in Firebase. Foreground app detection for blocking is processed on the device and is not used for advertising or profiling. See our Privacy Policy for data-handling details.
Device lock helps restrict access but may be bypassed on some devices or through system settings. It is not a substitute for parental supervision. Parents may disable device lock or change allowed apps at any time in the app.
8. Data & privacy
All personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We do not sell personal data or use behavioral advertising.
KidSafeNest may show banner ads on parent-only screens using non-personalized ad requests. Ads are not shown in child mode or during video playback.
Parents may request data review, correction, or deletion in the app or via Account deletion.
9. Limitation of liability
KidSafeNest is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for third-party content (including YouTube videos), temporary service interruptions, device compatibility issues, or bypass of optional device app lock on a child’s device.
10. Modifications to the app
We may update features, add or remove content, or modify these Terms. Continued use of the app means you accept updated terms.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts if terms are violated, inappropriate content is uploaded, or app misuse occurs.
Parents may delete their full KidSafeNest account at any time in the app under Settings → Legal & Policies → Delete Account, or follow the guide at Account deletion. Parents may remove individual child profiles under Manage Profiles.
