NightWave Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 29, 2026
NightWave (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a sleep and ambient sound mixer published by
Vistalytix (com.vistalytix.nightwave). This policy explains what
information the app handles, how it is used, and the choices you have.
NightWave is not a medical device and does not provide medical or professional health advice.
Information stored on your device
Most NightWave data stays on your phone and is not uploaded to our servers by the app:
- Playlists (names and sound lists you save).
- Mixer state (playing sounds, volumes, session preferences).
- Settings (sleep mode, Do Not Disturb, bedtime reminder, and similar options).
- Purchase cache (which Google Play products unlock premium sounds or remove ads).
- Nightly ad unlock (one premium sound unlocked via rewarded ad until local midnight).
- Sleep timer state, if set.
- A local sign-in identifier to help restore Google Sign-In between sessions.
You can remove local data by clearing app storage in Android Settings or uninstalling the app.
Sign-in (Google / Firebase)
You may sign in with Google. Firebase Authentication and Google Sign-In process information such as your name, email address, profile photo URL, and a unique user ID to maintain your session.
You can sign out in Settings at any time. You can delete your account from Settings → Delete account, which removes your Firebase Authentication record and linked Google sign-in for NightWave. A public deletion guide is at Account deletion. Signing out or deleting your account does not delete local playlists or settings; uninstalling or clearing storage does.
Crash and diagnostics data
NightWave uses Firebase Crashlytics (Google). When the app crashes or encounters certain errors, diagnostic information such as stack traces, device model, OS version, and app version may be sent to Google.
If you are signed in, crash reports may be linked to an anonymous Firebase user identifier.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version may show banner and rewarded video ads through Google AdMob. Google and its partners may use device identifiers (such as the advertising ID), IP address, and similar data to serve and measure ads, subject to your device and Google ad settings.
Rewarded ads may unlock one premium sound until local midnight; that unlock is stored locally. Premium or Remove Ads purchases hide ads when the app detects an active entitlement from Google Play.
See Google’s Privacy Policy and your device’s Google ad settings to control personalization.
Purchases (Google Play Billing)
Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed by Google Play. We receive purchase status from Google to unlock features. We do not receive or store your full payment card number.
Android permissions
- Internet — sign-in, ads, billing, crash reports, legal links.
- Foreground service / media playback — play sounds with the screen off.
- Notifications — bedtime reminders; playback controls.
- Do Not Disturb access (optional) — auto-DND or sleep mode while sounds play.
- Boot completed — reschedule bedtime reminders after restart.
- Google Play Billing — subscriptions and in-app purchases.
You can revoke optional permissions in Android Settings.
Third-party services
NightWave uses Google (Firebase, Google Sign-In, Crashlytics, AdMob, Google Play). Their handling of data is governed by their own policies.
We do not sell your personal information.
Children
NightWave is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has signed in, contact us and we will help address the Firebase Auth record.
Security and retention
Local app data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall. Crash data retained by Firebase is subject to Google’s retention policies.
Your choices
- Sign out or delete your account in Settings.
- Manage ad personalization in your Google account settings; purchase Remove Ads or Premium where offered.
- Manage subscriptions in Google Play or via the Premium screen in the app.
- Use Restore purchases after reinstalling on the same Google account.
- Clear app storage or uninstall to remove local data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
